Shell Objects, Folders & Explorer

CX Bring up start menu, also sets focus to the taskbar

For a selected object :

@ Rename

# Find

Cx, c, v Cut, copy or paste respectively

= Delete

S= Delete immediately without putting the file in Recycle Bin

C ] Put alternative verbs on the context menu (Open with)

S ] Change the default command to the next one in the list

S { Execute the alternative default command (the 2nd one in the list - Explore a folder)

To copy a file, hold the C key while you drag the file to a folder.

To create a shortcut, hold CS while you drag the file to the desktop or a folder.

Folders & Explorer (general controls)

$ (Explorer) Drops down the combo box and puts focus on it.

^ Tabs between panes in Explorer

Cg (Explorer) go to

Cz Undo

Ca Select all

Goes to the parent folder

S <CLOSE> On folders, closes this folder and all its parent folders

open a folder window in place, just this one time

 

Explorer’s Tree

Num * Expands everything under selection

Num + Expands selection

Num - Collapses selection

R Expands current selection if it's not expanded, otherwise goes to the first child

Q Collapses current selection if it's expanded, otherwise goes to the parent

The Property Tabsheets

CT or

CST Tabs forwards or backwards through pages respectively

Open & Save Dialog Boxes

$ Drop down the location list

% Refresh the view

CXX Focus on the taskbar, now you can tab then Shift-F10 for context menu, or tab then arrow key to change tasks, or tab to desktop

AT Switch to the next app in the z-order

S while popping in a CD bypasses auto-run.

Am when focus is on the tray or desktop does minimize all and puts focus on the desktop.
